Can we talk about how Peter’s idea of safe is to put Rumple in a box and Wendy in a cage? Like, look at the first thing he does when he’s defeated is to reach for Pandora’s box - for his son. I really do think he planned to wait for his strength to restore him as the all powerful king of Neverland before releasing Rumpelstiltskin and (forcefully) turning him back into a child. He probably thought that he could finally take care of Rumple without the worries of turning back into an adult and dying because he now has the heart of the truest believer. He probably thought that Wendy being freed by Emma and Neal was of no consequence because she wasn’t going to leave the island - not with Henry’s heart beating in his chest. He probably thought that it was possible to have it all
but was smart enough to think about contingency plans anyway.
